Dr. Sheri McIntosh understands how important it is to stay up-to-date on the latest skills and technology modern dentistry has to offer. This is why she invests in the latest dental equipment and participates in continuing education to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality dental care and have the best experience possible. Here is some of the advanced technology you can expect to find at Distinguished Dental.
Digital Dentistry
We utilize digital x-rays to capture internal images of your teeth and mouth. These pictures allow Dr. McIntosh to see things that are not always detected with the naked eye, which allows for early diagnosis of many issues such as gum disease and tooth decay.
Digital x-rays are safer for our patients because they emit 80% less radiation than traditional x-rays. Because there are no harsh chemicals required for developing, they are also better for the environment. Digital images are readily available for Dr. McIntosh to share with you and discuss treatment diagnosis right away. This gives our patients the opportunity to select the best treatment options for their needs.
Dental Sedation
Patients who feel fear or anxiety about their dental appointments can relax at Distinguished Dental. Our office is equipped to offer different levels of dental sedation that will meet your needs whether you just need a little extra care to get through your visit, or you’d like to experience deeper relaxation.
Nitrous oxide is a breathable gas that can help take the edge off so you feel at ease during your dental visit, and you’ll be able to drive yourself home from your appointment because it leaves your system quickly.
Oral conscious sedation uses medication typically in the form of a pill that helps deliver deeper relaxation while you’re still conscious and responsive. Due to the nature of this medication, you’ll likely feel like you were asleep and you won’t have much memory of what went on during your appointment.
IV sedation delivers medication intravenously while we monitor your vital signs and heart rate continuously. Medication can be delivered and adjusted as needed throughout your procedure. This option works well for people with extreme anxiety, multiple procedures to complete during one appointment, bad gag reflexes, or special needs.
